Why Pick-by-Light?
The Pick-by-Light system from iFD GmbH is the perfect solution for creating a fully paperless, digital picking process with high accuracy requirements. The standard system is customised to meet specific customer requirements and can be combined with hardware from various suppliers. All services are provided entirely by iFD GmbH. Our iFD-PBL is user-friendly, can be easily integrated into new and existing, manual or automated warehouse systems, and can be flexibly expanded in terms of both scope and depth of functionality.
With iFD’s Pick-by-Light system, picking errors can be virtually eliminated. Each storage bay is equipped with a signal lamp, a display and at least one confirmation button.

The hardware independence of the Pick by Light system is a major advantage of iFD. This means that the customer retains complete freedom in choosing the hardware components to be used. It is also possible to use different component suppliers, and this has been tested in practice; the only additional cost involved is for interface customisation. This saves a great deal of time and money, particularly when carrying out modifications and expansions.
Comprehensive reports and statistics within the PBL system facilitate monitoring and make a significant contribution to the evaluation of the picking process. This means greater transparency in the processes and the possibility of a performance-related bonus scheme.
The continuous data exchange with the HOST system enables the rapid and seamless transfer of information, system-controlled verification of correct execution, and real-time updates on the processing status.
The spotlight informs the user of the correct picking location. Reducing search time enables an increase in picking speed. Furthermore, the spotlights can illuminate in different colours. This makes it very easy to represent process-specific situations.
Confirmation at the picking bin guarantees that the employee has picked the correct item. At the same time, the picking confirmation is communicated directly to the system, ensuring that the current status of the picking order is always available.
Pick-by-Light combines high picking performance with intuitive and ergonomic operation. New staff can therefore be trained in a very short time without the need for extensive induction. Furthermore, a consistently high picking performance can be achieved.
