ALZTEC and iFD work hand in hand for the automotive industry
The main contractor ALZTEC GmbH from Trostberg and iFD GmbH are joining forces to commission a warehouse management system with material flow control for a warehouse supplying parts to a paint shop. The client is an international automotive group.
The central element of the system is a fully automated warehouse system with connected goods-in and picking stations, as well as several automatic conveyor systems. A total of 600 metres of conveyor technology is used in the system.
In future, all vehicle parts required for production will be painted centrally at one plant and delivered to the other company sites for assembly.
ALZTEC GmbH is a recognised solution provider for engineering, conveyor technology, specialised machinery and polysilicon, and is acting as the main contractor for the project. iFD GmbH and ALZTEC have already jointly implemented several logistics projects for the automotive industry and are now forming a consortium for the first time.
In this project, iFD GmbH is responsible for warehouse management and material flow control for a 3-aisle high-bay warehouse operated by eight stacker cranes. The iFD system is responsible for goods receipt, control and optimisation of the material flow, as well as order picking, including the generation of the picking sequence and the precise sequence-based delivery to the paint shop.
To ensure the system’s performance and optimise material flow strategies, iFD is carrying out a system and process simulation.
With its range of functions, iFD’s LVSS covers all processes required for the efficient management of the warehouse. The optimisation of logistics processes, the software’s high flexibility, and iFD’s many years of experience and service were decisive factors in the choice of system. Commissioning of the entire plant will take place at the end of 2018.
