Modernisation contract with igus
igus GmbH, a leading manufacturer of low-wear, high-performance polymers for motion applications, has commissioned iFD GmbH to modernise the material flow control system for its automated warehouse at its Cologne site. iFD GmbH is a renowned software partner in the field of automated warehouse systems and has earned an excellent reputation thanks to its expertise and experience in this sector.
Particular attention is being paid to the iFD-MFCS product used to control and manage the high-bay warehouse. The iFD-MFCS is an innovative system that enables various control systems and warehouse management to be integrated into a single solution. The use of the MFCS reduces errors and rework at igus, whilst increasing the efficiency and reliability of the system.
The modernised system is powerful, flexible and, thanks to its integrated visualisation, features an intuitive operating concept. It meets the requirements for retrofit systems such as igus, ensuring that the application can be easily expanded to include further automated aisles in later stages of development with minimal effort. By integrating into a single solution, the application not only reduces the complexity of the system landscape; standardised interfaces for connecting the PLC and the host system also enable rapid and targeted adaptation to the user’s requirements.
The commissioning of the iFD by igus GmbH is an important step towards achieving high process reliability. By using the innovative iFD-MFCS, igus GmbH can increase its efficiency whilst significantly reducing the costs associated with fault detection and rectification. The modernisation not only provides igus with a state-of-the-art system; a modern infrastructure within the existing warehouse is also a fundamental building block for future-proofing and adapting to the changing requirements of customers.
