iFD integrates a new fleet management component into the LVS

News Placeholder2

Today, a company’s transport management system must ensure that an increasing number of orders, drivers, vehicles and customers are managed, coordinated and scheduled simultaneously with the utmost economic efficiency. Thanks to the fleet management component of iFD, these activities are now automated for users.

The overarching aim is to efficiently operate and manage a fleet consisting of trailers, lorries and drivers. The functionalities can be categorised into the following areas:

  • Order allocation: Creating orders, including the management of consolidated deliveries based on geographical and time-critical criteria
  • Order management: Maximising the allocation of orders to a mode of transport and minimising a vehicle’s mileage
  • Order tracking: Tracking of transport per shipment and all associated events

SYSTEM BENEFITS

Fleet management significantly improves the efficiency of internal transport management. It enables detailed control over the fleet, shipments and drivers.

Transparency of your logistics

The greatest added value of the solution is the high level of transparency in transport management processes, as all fleet activities are tracked in real time. This includes areas such as on-time delivery, proof of delivery, temperature analyses of transported goods, and tachograph records relating to drivers and faults that occurred during transport. This information enables optimal decisions to be made regarding the allocation of transport tasks and allows for an immediate response to unforeseen situations. In this way, fleet productivity is significantly improved.

Real-time communication with drivers and customers

The use of smartphones and tablets in vehicles improves communication between dispatch and drivers, meaning that the customer or recipient is also informed in real time about the status and location of their shipment – resulting in higher customer satisfaction. With the help of mobile devices and the collection of electronic data (ranging from customer details and assignments to invoices and tasks during the shipment), the use of paper documentation and archives is eliminated.

The fleet management component obtains geographical data from either Google Maps, Bing Maps or OpenStreetMap.

In combination with the ‘Dock and Yard Management’ add-on, the iFD WMS is now able to schedule, synchronise and manage all customer and supplier transactions taking place outside the warehouse in a cost-optimised manner, in sync with warehouse processes.
