Dresden Airport

Since it was founded in 2000, Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG has been a successful example of how politics, administration and business can work together in Central Germany. The high-performance network of Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG is a decisive decision-making criterion for the targeted settlement of international companies. With its subsidiaries Flughafen Dresden GmbH, Flughafen Leipzig/Halle GmbH, PortGround GmbH and EasternAirCargo GmbH, it has succeeded in promoting the infrastructure expansion at its two commercial airports in Dresden and Leipzig in an economical and customer-oriented manner.

Approximately 600,000 passengers and their luggage are transported through Dresden Airport every year. Flughafen Dresden GmbH commissioned a modernisation of the IT system through migration as well as extensions for the logistical registration, transport and sorting of luggage. An innovative, high-performance error evaluation system is intended to support the detection of incorrect transports that have occurred.

By migrating to a modern, adaptive system, a future-proof solution was to be created which, on the one hand, leads to a significant reduction in costs through process optimisation and, on the other hand, offers possibilities for adaptation and expansion. A key focus of the task was the seamless integration of the new IT system into the heterogeneous system environment of the airport without impairing the handling process. In order to guarantee a speedy and targeted project process, the strategy for an optimised procedure and project process was coordinated between client and contractor on the basis of a detailed process analysis and alternative possible solutions.

It was determined that the project should be implemented in two steps:

In step 1, the migration of the "old software" to the in-house test

in step 2 the commissioning of the iFD-MFCS including a 5-day operational support

iFD-MFCS was chosen due to the web frontend and the modular architecture that allows a step-by-step integration in line with the development of customised solutions; the adaptive system for controlling high-end material flow systems, to be used as system software.

Warehouse Pilot

The iFD WarehousePilot platform integrateswarehouse management, realising its full potential when combined with material flow control and forklift guidance systems.

The iFD Warehouse Pilot platform connects specialised systems to form an integrated end-to-end solution for intralogistics. Existing systems can be upgraded step by step without disrupting operations

This integrated architecture does not result in isolated individual solutions, but rather in consistent control logic across the entire operation.

  • WarehousePilot Store

Warehouse management forms the data and process layer of intralogistics. It creates transparency regarding inventory, orders, and processes, and ensures that information is available where it is needed.
